Volunteering Project in Sukraraj Balabhadra School

Lhasso Adventure collaborated with Mother and Children Art Foundation to deliver volunteering project in all Nepal, focusing on experienced and professional work. Volunteer in Nepal can be the perfect combination between helping those in needs and enjoy wonderful trekking landscape. On 28th of July the team project Haydon School from started they volunteering project in Sukraraj Balabhadra Secondary School, Pokhara. They lived for 3 days with the local community, learning and interacting with Nepali culture while helping in the school. At their arrival the team received a warm welcome from the school principal, SMC chairperson, Parents, Teachers Association’s members and students. The community offered them white scarfs called Khada, bunch of flowers and red tika on their forehead.
The headmaster, SMC chairperson, advisor president of Parents Teachers Association delivered welcome speech. Then, the team was taken around the school to show the project site. The team discussed with the headmaster about the tasks they will work on and agreed on the following: continuing 172ft. long boundary walls on the southern part of the school, painting doors and windows, buy materials for construction and pay for skill workers.
During their stay the team was also able to enjoy local activities as the group members were quite interested to take part in cookery class and teaching. Thus, the team was split into three groups and took part in these classes for 2 days. Besides that, they also played games and interacted with local children.
As a farewell the team had a wonderful closing ceremony organized by school committee, the students performed cultural dances, singing songs, delivering appreciation speech and letter to the team. This wonderful experience will last in every volunteer memory and in the local community as well. As for now students will enjoy a better and safer school environment.
