Volunteering Project in Aatma Bikas School

On August 4th the team from Sackville School UK, lived an amazing experienced in Budhanilakantha, while working as volunteers at the school Aatma Bikas. Through Lhasso Adventure the group was able to get involved with the Nepali culture, living side by side with the local community and enjoying meaningful time at the school.
At their arrival the team received a welcome ceremony, the students offered bunch of flowers and the national anthem of both Nepal and UK was played. After the anthem, the principal delivered welcome speech and then the group was taken around the project area. The team met the principal of the school and agreed on working at the following tasks: plastering and concreting the floors, digging the path to the toilets and making murals.
During the first day the team was taken to the nearest handcraft shop to purchase materials and tools to start working on the tasks. During their stay the team was able to interact with locals by taking part in cookery class and exchange teaching class in English. Moreover, the team was invested in the community and decided to visited a monastery nearby the school with the local guides.
As a farewell the community organized a closing ceremony where the Nepali and UK anthem were played and sung along. Red scarfs and red tika on their forehead were donated at the team in sign of gratitude. The principal delivered also an appreciation speech and thankful letter were distributed at each of the team members.
