When is the best season to travel and trek in Nepal?

In Nepal, the best time for trekking and travel in Nepal is spring Feb to May and autumn Sept-Nov. We can get the best scenery of the nature, Himalayas, flora, fauna and wildlife along the trial and have an amazing trek. Moreover, there are some rain shadowareas Upper Mustang and Manang, where you can visit and do an adventurous trek even on the Monsoon season June- Augustof Nepal.

How is the climate like in Nepal?

Due to the impressive topography, landscape and altitude Nepal has various climatic changes throughout year. The High-Himalayan region is always below freezing and the northern mountain region, around an altitude above 3,300m, has an alpine climate with a lower temperature in winter. The Tarai and the low valleys are always warm with humid climate and can rise above 45° Celsius during summer. The mid-land regions are pleasant almost all the year round, hence, it’s very suitable for trekking season. However, the winter nights are chilly and cold.

Can I get trekking equipment in Nepal?

Yes, you can find trekking gears in Nepal and either purchase it or rent it. However, it may also not be up to the quality and comfort you get at your home country especially equipment like trekking boots. There are many retail stores to buy the trekking gear in Kathmandu, Pokhara, or Lukla. If you want to rent gears as tents or down jackets, it’s advisable to rent from the starting point of the trek.

Can I join a group?

Yes, you can. We work to collaborate and coordinate the new member in a group of 8-10 people. If you would like to join a group heading to a particular destination, you may either join the available trip or book own trip in a way that other trekkers can also join in.

What is a tea house and what facilities are available?

Tea Houses are a combination of a local mountain guesthouse/lodge and a restaurant. This is where you’ll stay overnight in the trial. Most Tea houses in the mountains do have private rooms and some have an attached bathroom. Although tea house and its facilities vary from one lodge to the other, the basic facilities are provided to trekkers in the trial. Running water and electricity are available in all most every lodges; hot water is an extra cost in some lodges. It’s important to consider that the tea houses are different than the hotels in terms of accommodation and food.

What types of foods are available?

The breakfast and dinner are provided at the lodge, where you’ll stay overnight. And, the lunch is eaten, taking break in the trial, at local restaurants. Generally, for lunch and dinner, we provide Nepali traditional meal DalBhat (rice, lentils, and vegetables). While for breakfast, trekkers are given eggs, porridge/muesli, toast and Tibetan bread with local honey. Other items like soft drinks,chocolate bars, upon your request will be an extra cost soft drinks, snacks, chocolate bars and beer. However, we highly encourage our trekkers to consume any kind of alcohol and meat items. Note: We highly encourage trekkers to carry their water bottles and drink a lot of water. We do not suggest eating meat items in the trial, since it slowdowns your level of energy as it is difficult to digest in higher altitudes.

How much experience do the guides have?

Our guides have been working in the trekking field more than 10 years. They are skillful, knowledgeable and master in the trekking routes and good rapport with the guests. They will provide you the necessary background information of the trekking places, and highly motivate you to walk together, no matter how difficult the trek is. Our guides and porters are enthusiastic and cooperative to make the trek a success one.

How do they help to coup with the altitude sickness?

All our porters and guides are given trainings for First Aid and they do quickly recognize the early symptoms of Altitude Sickness like dizziness, fatigue, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you are showing any signs of Altitude Sickness, firstly our guide will take you to a lower altitude and then provide you proper medical care. We make sure that all necessary medicines are equipped with guides before they move for the trial. It’s important for everyone to be communicative while trekking and inform our guides, without any hesitation, or your friends if you are facing any kind of difficulty while trekking.

What is Volunteer Trekking?

Lhasso Adventure has been doing volunteer trekking since few years now. Volunteer trekking is typically trekking for a volunteer purpose, where trekkers work in the remote villages of Nepal to conduct medical camps and aid in school building for the welfare of villagers. Training programs are also run to up-skill the local health volunteers. It would be an opportunity for both the villagers and the trekkers to learn about one another’s culture. This will help trekkers to have an insight in the lifestyle of Nepali villagers.
