Tent Peak also known by local name as Tharpu Chuli, as also listed on NMA trekking peaks of Nepal (Nepal Mountaineering Association) one of the most striking peaks to challenge to its top summit at above 5, 663 m and 18,575 ft high.
Tent Peak-Tharpu Chulu climb graded as TD which means a peak of high Technical Difficulty however can be climbed with expert support of Lhasso Adventure guides to reach the summit and back safely in one piece.
Tent Peak – Tharpu Chulu the grading comes from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification Systems which is a great and simple way to grade the climb of lesser peaks of a day adventure.
Tent Peak-Tharpu Chulu climb leads you right in the heart of massive Annapurna Himalaya, the first ever 8,000 m peak climbed way back in 1950 by French Expeditions to the summit of Annapurna I at 8,091 m high, listed as world’s tenth highest mountains a mountain that was summated even before Mt. Everest.
Starting a magnificent adventure Tent Peak-Tharpu Chulu climb, with exciting overland journey to reach low areas and valley of Nepal Mid-West at beautiful Pokhara, city with natural beauty of mountains, green hills and serene lakes regarded as one of the most renowned touristic destination in all Himalaya regions.
From Pokhara adventure leads to high hills of Ghorepani surrounded by dense woodland of rhododendron trees, the national flower of Nepal which you can see its bright red-maroon-violet-pink and white colors in flowering seasons around spring times.
At Ghorepani with hike to famous and scenic Poon Hill for 360° wide panorama of mountains with stunning sunrise, and then heading towards our main highlight to reach at beautiful Annapurna Sanctuary with base camp and beyond for Tent Peak-Tharpu Chuli Climb.
Walking past Poon-Magar and last Gurung village at Chomrong where route leads into a deep gorge of Modi River covered with dense forest and then reaching a wide open valley and a plateau at scenic Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp of Annapurna.
With delightful moment at Annapurna Base Camp, where our adventure leads over moraine and glacier to reach at the foot of Tent Peak and Tharpu Chuli base camp enclosed within array of high peaks of Annapurna range.
After much preparation and getting ready for the last Big haul to the summit of stunning Tent peak or Tharpu Chuli with strenuous and some technical effort to reach the top rewarding you with mind-blowing panorama of peaks that encircles.
Feeling and being on top and in high spirit descend back to sanctuary and then on long downhill to the road-head for short scenic drive to beautiful Pokhara, where our marvelous adventure and experience on Tent Peak-Tharpu Chulu Climb completes.
- Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m) and transfer to hotel.
- Day 2 : Drive / Fly to Pokhara 860m (220 k.ms) 06 hrs journeys (30 min by air).
- Day 3 : Drive past Nayapul and trek to Tirkhedhunga village 1,540 m - 05 hrs.
- Day 4 : Tirkhedhunga village to Ghorepani 2,860m - 05 hrs.
- Day 5 : Ghorepani to Poon Hill 3,210 m and walk to Tadapani 2,630 m - 06 hrs.
- Day 6 : Tadapani to Chomrong 1,951m - 05 hrs.
- Day 7 : Chomrong to Dovan 2,600 m via Bamboo 2,050m-05 hrs.
- Day 8 : Bamboo to Deurali 3,230 m - 4 hrs.
- Day 9 : Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m via Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m.
- Day 10 : Machhapuchare Base Camp to Tent peak Base Camp 4,450 m / 14,600 ft - 05 hrs.
- Day 11 : Climb to the summit of Tent Peak and return to Annapurna Base Camp - 08 hrs.
- Day 12 : Reserve day in case of bad weather condition.
- Day 13 : Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo 2,310 m - 06 hrs.
- Day 14 : Bamboo to Jhinu village 1,760 m - 05 hrs.
- Day 15 : Jhinu village to Siwai 1,050 m and drive back to Pokhara -04 hrs walks and 3 hrs ride.
- Day 16 : Drive or fly to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels.
- Day 17 : Depart for your next destination.
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m) and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu International Airport, received by our guide and staff and then transfer to your respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.
First check into your hotel rooms after getting refreshed from the flight, where our expert guides will inform regarding hotels, trekking, local lodge and overland drives with do’s and dont’s information.
Day 2 Drive / Fly to Pokhara 860m (220 k.ms) 06 hrs journeys (30 min by air).
Morning depart from Kathmandu for interesting drive to scenic Pokhara, leading you on Nepal’s most busy highway with views of high mountains and green landscapes, as drive heads encountering towns and farm villages and then reaching at Pokhara after 5-6 hrs of exciting overland drive, at Pokhara hotels located near Phewa lake.
Pokhara a beautiful, renowned touristic city blessed with natural beauty placed on the laps of massive Annapurna Himalaya with magnificent Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’, a virgin and unclimbed peaks of Himalaya, besides mountains and rolling green hills treasures calm lakes of Phewa and Begnas where most of the good hotels and international standard restaurants located by the Phewa Lake.

Day 3 Drive past Nayapul and trek to Tirkhedhunga village 1,540 m - 05 hrs.
Enjoying nice and pleasant time at Pokhara with excellent views of Annapurna Himalaya and magnificent Machhapuchare Himal, after breakfast an exciting drive leads you for few hours beyond Pokhara valley to reach our starting point of trekking.
Drive leads past Pokhara valley outskirt with marvelous scenery of Annapurna peaks and farm lands and then reaching much warmer areas of Nayapul town by the road side of Pokhara and Beni highway.
From here walk follows on leaving Modi River to a nice and lovely village at Bhirethati and beyond to reach at Tirkhedhunga village overnight stop.
Day 4 Tirkhedhunga village to Ghorepani 2,860m - 05 hrs.
From Tirkhedhunga with steep uphill on stone paved steps to reach at Ulleri village, and then on gradual winding trail to reach at Ghorepani as walk leads into lovely alpine woodland of rhododendron and pine trees.
After a great pleasant walk within cool shade of woodland reaching at Ghorepani village, where next early morning hike takes you at Poon Hill, Ghorepani home of Poon people of Magar origin tribe, an ethnic hill tribes of Nepal famous as Gorkha soldiers in UK-India and other foreign countries. This village with many good lodges offers marvelous views of Dhaulagiri-Tukuche-Nilgiri’s and Annapurna Himalayan mountains.
Day 5 Ghorepani to Poon Hill 3,210 m and walk to Tadapani 2,630 m - 06 hrs.
Early morning before breakfast, hike up for an hour on top scenic Poon Hill at above 3,210 m our highest spot of this wonderful trekking.
From Poon Hill catch striking sunrise views of panorama of mountains which includes Dhaulagiri-Tukuche-Nilgiri’s-Annapurna Fang (Vara Shikar) Annapurna range of peaks with majestic Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ the unclimbed and virgin peaks of Himalaya.
View includes Mt. Manaslu with Lamjung extending towards Ganesh Himal due east horizon, after a marvelous photo session head back to Ghorepani for breakfast and carry on trekking uphill into beautiful woods of rhododendron trees with views of mountains.
Finally as walk leads to descend and then up at Tadapani within forested areas with grand views of Annapurna range of peaks with stunning Machhapuchare Himal at close distance.
Day 6 Tadapani to Chomrong 1,951m - 05 hrs.
From Tadapani morning leads downhill into dense forest and further to reach at Kimrong River after crossing a bridge with uphill to high ridge past many scattered farm houses.
After a refreshing stop, and then on fairly easy downhill walks all the way to Chomrong the last village and the gateway towards Annapurna base camp and scenic sanctuary.
Day 7 Chomrong to Dovan 2,600 m via Bamboo 2,050m-05 hrs.
From Chomrong our route leads past terraced farms then descend to Chomrong River, after crossing a bridge climb all the way for an hour or more to reach at Sinuwa Danda and a small village after this scenic spot on winding path into dense woodland with downhill for an hour to reach at a place called Bamboo, a small settlement with lodges in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forest.
After a pleasant short stop at Bamboo short walk on gradual up brings you at Dovan for overnight stop, Dovan with few lodges located on a isolated spot in the midst of forest close to raging Modi River.
Day 8 Bamboo to Deurali 3,230 m - 4 hrs.
After nice overnight in Dovan, morning walk heads into cool forest with slow and gradual up following Modi River upstream, the trail continues with few ups and down to reach at Himalaya Hotel near huge Hinko cave, situated beneath Hiunchuli peak.
Himalaya Hotel a small place with few lodges as trek continues on downhill with up to Deurali for overnight and lunch stop the last place with lodge before Machhapuchare Base Camp.
Day 9 Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m via Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m.
From Deurali where green vegetation and tree lines disappears for short alpine shrubs and bushes, as walk leads uphill to follow raging Modi River upstream with climb for an hour in between, then reaching at Machhapuchare Base Camp.
Machhapuchare base camp houses about five good lodges located beneath north face of Machhapuchare Himal the Fish Tail peak.
After brief stop walks continues towards our main destination and highlight of the adventure as route leads you in the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary and at Base Camp, overlooking magnificent view of snow peaks that surrounds you at ABC the one and only place in all Himalaya with nice cozy Lodges at base camp, offering superb panorama.
Day 10 Machhapuchare Base Camp to Tent peak Base Camp 4,450 m / 14,600 ft - 05 hrs.
After a nice refreshing overnight stop at Annapurna Base Camp, morning walk leads across snow-covered moraine rocky path towards icy trail for an hour reaching a glacier of Annapurna South.
After hours of climb leading to a flat spot to set our base camp, first night in tents with proper camping facilities of cook and kitchen staff and dining tents including excellent camping meals.
Day 11 Climb to the summit of Tent Peak and return to Annapurna Base Camp - 08 hrs.
From Base Camp starting early before crack of dawn, heading further with steep climb along rocky and icy glacier with lot of boulders, climb continue to reach at 5,200 m rocky ridge.
With some break adventure continues on snow slope of steep ice and rocks encountering some technical sections towards summit of Tent Peak; our expert guide leads you with complete support by fixing ropes in necessary portions, and then a last tough haul to reach at the summit top of 5,663 meters high.
On top of the summit enjoy breathtaking panorama of entire Annapurna Himalaya peaks, and then descend safely on same route to base camp and carry on walk to Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 12 Reserve day in case of bad weather condition.
We reserve an extra and spare day as contingency, in case of bad and unfavorable weather, which can happen occasionally around high Himalaya, if all goes well according to our itinerary using this spare day on route to Pokhara with short day enjoying beautiful views along the walks.
Day 13 Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo 2,310 m - 06 hrs.
After a wonderful time in complete tranquility within giant mountains and serene wilderness our return journey leads back to green vegetation and tree lines on downhill with few ups to reach at Bamboo for overnight.
Day 14 Bamboo to Jhinu village 1,760 m - 05 hrs.
After a long exciting walks to Annapurna base camp and back at Bamboo in a day, today trek will be much easier where morning walk leads beyond Modi River and Bamboo areas with short ups and then on winding path into deep woodland to reach at Sinuwa danda with few houses and lodge, from here downhill to Chomrong River with climb to Chomrong village for possible lunch stop.
From Chomrong a short climb and then descend on nice paved stone steps to reach at Jhinu village located on a high ridge and hill with super views of rolling hills and peaks, here with time to enjoy its hot natural spring which is 25 minutes walk downhill from the village by the bank of Modi River.
Day 15 Jhinu village to Siwai 1,050 m and drive back to Pokhara -04 hrs walks and 3 hrs ride.
From Jhinu with refreshing time on natural hot spring, our last day walk leads back to Pokhara with long descend following Modi River downstream to reach low and warmer farm area at Siwai, where scenic drive takes you back at beautiful Pokhara for last overnight around Annapurna region by its serene Phewa Lake.
Day 16 Drive or fly to Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels.
Morning transfer either on car or coach as well taking a tourist bus (depending upon the group size ), where interesting overland journey brings you back at Kathmandu with scenic views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields within nice villages and towns as drive brings leads into hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu.
On reaching Kathmandu transfer to your respective hotels with time for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.
Day 17 Depart for your next destination.
Last day in Nepal after a wonderful experience and adventure on Tent Peak Climbing with great service of Lhasso Adventure, and as per your international flight then transfer to Kathmandu international airport for homeward bound or to your respective destinations.
