Manaslu Trek

Manaslu Trek is one of the best all-round treks in Nepal situated on The Great Himalayan Trail. It’s a virgin trail and less crowded than any other treks in Nepal. This route has been open to foreigners since 1990s but gained popularity after tea houses were built. It is a perfect trek for those who desire to observe the delegate remote living with spectacular Himalayas. Involvement in this trek provides you an opportunity to explore genuine Hindu and Tibetan style towns, stunning views of green valleys and snow-capped peaks. This trek starts from low elevation passing through green hills, Hindu valleys, beautiful alpine meadows and small Tibet type of towns which gets closer the north face of Mt. Manaslu.

Manaslu region’s trekking trails which have been untouched and less trodden is varied and remote which makes the trekking experience wilder and exploratory. This trek takes you around Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountains at 8163m. The locals named it as a ‘Spirit Mountain’ believing it to have spiritual deities. The paths of this trek holds enthralling landscapes, panoramic outlooks of grand mountains including Mt. Manaslu, Annapurna I, Annapurna south, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Mt. Machhapuchre, Mt. Ganesh with stunning sunrise in some of the high ridges and nineteen wooded areas holding rhododendron and bamboo. Here, you’ll trek from the sub-tropical jungle at lower elevation, through the Himalayan foothills to the high, cold and challenging crossing of Larkya La above 5100m. Thus, it’s a fantastic experience as walk leads through tribal villages with interesting culture and simple way of life among the hill people in the shade of high mountains.

Manaslu trek begins at Seti Khola, a small village near Arughat, west of Kathmandu. The trail then takes us through the Gurung Communities, along ancient salt trading routes adjacent to the Budhi Gandaki River. The journey culminates in the crossing of Larkya Pass (5235m), from where trekkers descend down, the last leg of this trekking completes at the Syange village for the drive to Kathmandu with glorious memories and moments of Manaslu Trek.

  • Day 3 : Drive Kathmandu to Sotikhola (700m./2310ft.) 9hours.

  • Day 5 : MacchaKhola to Jagat (1410m./ 4653ft.) 6: to 7hours.
  • Day 6 : Jagat to Deng (1800m./5940ft.) 6 to7hours.
  • Day 7 : Deng to Namrung (2630m./8679ft.) 6 to 7hours.
  • Day 8 : Namrung to Lho (3115m./10279ft.) 4 to 5 hours.
  • Day 9 : Lho to Samagaon (3520m./11616ft) 3 to 4 hours.
  • Day 10 : Samagaon to Samdo (3860m./12738ft.) 3 to 4 hours.
  • Day 11 : Rest and acclimatization day in Samdo.
  • Day 12 : Samdo to Dharamsala /Larkya Base camp (4450m./14685ft.) 4 to 5 hours.
  • Day 13 : Dharamsala to Larkya la (5160m./17028ft.) to Bimthang (3720m/12276ft) 8 to 9 hours.
  • Day 14 : Bimthang to Gho (2560m./8448ft.) 5 to 6 hours.
  • Day 15 : Gho to Tal (1700m./5610ft.) 5 to 6 hours.
  • Day 16 : Drive Tal to Besisahar (760m./2508ft.) 4 hours
  • Day 17 : Besisahar to Kathmandu (1350m./4455ft.) 7hours.
  • Day 18 : Fly Back to home.
  • All ground transportation as per itinerary private/local.

Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu (1350m./4455ft.)

Arriving at Tribhuvan international airport and our guide will pick you up from the airport and escort to our hotel in Thamel.

Day 2 Preparation day in Kathmandu (1350m./4455ft.)

After breakfast today you will be doing full day sightseeing to world heritage sites. Your tour guide will take you to the different places including Swayambhunath, Boudhhanath and Pashupatinath. After touring, go back to hotel and final preparation for trekking.

Day 3 Drive Kathmandu to Sotikhola (700m./2310ft.) 9hours.

Early morning, drive Kathmandu to Sotikhola via Arughat. While driving, you pass through the Dhading, Bensi and Arughat. Will take a short break at Arughat then heading towards Sotikhola. It will be a great experience to see the traditional village, but roads will get a little rough to Arughat. Overnight at Soti Khola.

Day 4 SotiKhola to MacchaKhola (900m./2970ft.) 6 to 7hours.

Today’s destination will be Maccha Khola. In the beginning, trail leads across a bridge and walking towards a beautiful Sal-forest and reach to Khursane Bari. The trail weaves its way up and down, then passes through subtropical waterfalls before and after the Gurung village of Labubesi. Again walk through the another suspension bridge and flow the BudhiGandaki Kola then reach to MachhaKhola. Due to lack of infrastructure development, the road condition is not good enough so you will have to walk some times on rough road. Overnight at Machha Khola.

Day 5 MacchaKhola to Jagat (1410m./ 4653ft.) 6: to 7hours.

Today in the beginning, cross the Tharo Khola and a couple of hour gentle walk to Khorlabesi. It’s a great opportunity to see the natural hot spring along the way. After crossing a suspension bridge over the Budhi Gandaki river, we gradually climb up to Dovanathen and walk through the big landslide after that gradually accent to the Yaru Khola. Upon crossing a suspension bridge over the Yaru Khola, walk on a well-crafted staircase, after crossing the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki, we will enter Jagat Village. Overnight at Jagat.

Day 6 Jagat to Deng (1800m./5940ft.) 6 to7hours.

Today, trek towards Deng, along the walk passing through several traditional villages such as Salleri, Sirdibas and GhattaKhola. As you reach at Ghatta Khola should go over the long suspension bridge and short climb up to Filim village. This is the place where travels should check in their permit, and also it is one of the reach ethnic Gurung cultural village. After crossing a Eklee Bhatti, the route now enters a steep uninhabited gorge. You will cross the Budhi Gandaki river. The trail passes via bamboo forests and Pewa village before it reachingto Deng. Overnight at Deng.

Day 7 Deng to Namrung (2630m./8679ft.) 6 to 7hours.

Today after breakfast, around 45 minutes gentle walk to Budhi Gandki river, as you cross the bridge begin ascent to Rana village. The trail passes through forests and Mani walls. You will take the route via Prok village, upon arrival to the village will see spectacular view of Siringi Himal. After crossing the river at an impressive spot where it thunders down a narrow gorge, the forest becomes less dense and path is normal. The pleasant walk continues to the bridge and start steep climb up before reaching Namrung. From the village you’ll have thrilling view of Ganesh Himal Siringi Himal. Overnight at Namrung.

Day 8 Namrung to Lho (3115m./10279ft.) 4 to 5 hours.

We will walk through a forest and reach to Lihi village; it is a beautiful village and can see several ancient stupas. After couple of hors easy walking arrive to Lho, as you reach in to the villageappear Mt. Manaslu and more. Don’t miss to visit ancient monastery, there are fifty monks live in the monastery and they do ritual ceremony morning and evening, which is very interesting. Overnight Lho.

Day 9 Lho to Samagaon (3520m./11616ft) 3 to 4 hours.

Today’s hiking via Shyla village to Samagaon, there is a monastery in Shyla village. It was built in 7th century and  4 years ago reconstructed. From Shyla will have gorgeous view of peak 29. After crossing the bridge, enters in to Samagaon, a large village before the larke pass. The village has thousands of Mani wheels with Buddhist texts and picture inscribed on them. You will get a chance to explore and learn the Tibetan culture and lifestyle. On a little hill near the Sama village is an old monastery with great views. Overnight in Samagaon.

Day 10 Samagaon to Samdo (3860m./12738ft.) 3 to 4 hours.

Today will be shortest walk of the whole trip, which may take 3 to 4 hours to Samdo. The path leading you gentle ascend to the Budhi Gandaki River. After crossing small wooden bridge, you will head towards Samdo. Overnight in Samdo.

Day 11 Rest and acclimatization day in Samdo.

Today is an acclimatization day in Samo, afternoon explore village to see the local lifestyle. Another hike option is to one of the trade passes to Tibet for excellent views of mountains including Mt. Manaslu, Simrang, Hiunchuli,Ngadi, Larkye Peak, Cheo, etc. You will also encounter some beautiful mountain birds like the Lophophorus, Lammergeyer and Himalayan Griffin soaring high above us. Overnight in Samdo.

Day 12 Samdo to Dharamsala /Larkya Base camp (4450m./14685ft.) 4 to 5 hours.

Today’s walk will take to Dharamshala. In the morning after warm up walking cross the wooden bridge over Budi Gandaki, you should pass the several streams. After hiking for an hour, you will see the Larkya Glacier. We head forward around the valley of the Salka Khola and get to base camp. The walk is short and pleasant. You may hike uphill for a hour and come back in the afternoon to acclimatise. Overnight in Dharmashala.

Day 13 Dharamsala to Larkya la (5160m./17028ft.) to Bimthang (3720m/12276ft) 8 to 9 hours.

Path leading to the valley after a short walk. This valley offers great views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The trail heads through moraines of the glacier. On top of the Larkya La pass is an outstanding viewpoint of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and the huge Annapurna II. After the pass descending to Bimthang. Overnight at Bimthang.

Day 14 Bimthang to Gho (2560m./8448ft.) 5 to 6 hours.

Today you will cross a high pasture (Sangure Kharka) and a bridge over DudhKhola. you will walk through rhododendron forest and follow a trail through a narrow valley. Then reach the highest cultivated land of the valley at Karche and walk continue approximately an hour then arrive Gho village. Overnight at Gho Village.

Day 15 Gho to Tal (1700m./5610ft.) 5 to 6 hours.

The trail passes through Tilije village and small settlements. Trails again leads to Dudh Khola bridge and path ascends via a chorten-shaped arch entering into Thonje village. Continue walk towards Dharapani to Karte village. After crossing a bridge over Marsyandi Khola, you will head towards the Tal. Overnight in Tal.

Day 16 Drive Tal to Besisahar (760m./2508ft.) 4 hours

Today we will take local 4W jeep drive to Besishar on a rough off road. While driving you pass the several villages like Jagat, Syange and Bubule along the Marshyangdi river. Overnight in Besisahar.

Day 17 Besisahar to Kathmandu (1350m./4455ft.) 7hours.

Today drive to Kathmandu by privet vehicle via Prithivi high way along the Trisuli river.  It will take around 7 hours to reach Kathmandu. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 18 Fly Back to home.

Your final day of your Nepal trip. Our representative will drop you to the airport 3 hours before your flight departure time.
