The beautiful Jomolhari trek offers a wide range of landscapes, fauna and flora and the spectacular view of Mt. Jomolhari. Day 1 Paro to Shana
You will drive of north Paro from your hotel to historic Drukgyel Dzong(8462 feet) where all the gears for the trek will be loaded inour pack ponies. Now we start the trek by walking along Paro river, gently crossing through well maintained traditional farmhouses, field of millet and rice terraces. After walking for five hours we settle at our first campsite by the river near village of Shana at 9413 ft. Overnights in tents.
Day 2 Soi Thangthangkha trek
We continue up through the valley of Paro river, ascending and descending through a thick forest of pine, oak and spruce. After walking for 2 hours we reach Shingkharap, a stone house. Then we move forward following the river passing through rhododendron forest, crossing the bridge we reach our camping site where we stay overnight.
Day 3 Soi Thanhthangkha to Jangothang
The next day we ascend for a while and reach army camp. We then follow the Paro river above tree line where you can enjoy fascinating views of surrounding peaks. Then we enter the yak country after passing muddy trails and mani wall to have our lunch. After lunch, we move forward crossing yak herders settlements of Soe and Takethang. Our campsite will be at Jangothang, most beautiful campsite of Himalayas, from where you can see a spectacular view of Mount Jumolhari.
Day 4 Jangothang rest day
Today we rest at Jangothang and be familiarized with the high altitude. You can either prefer hike with great views on lakes, glaciers and snowcapped mountains like Jumolhari and Jichu Drake or you can visit and experience a high altitude village if nearby. Overnight camping.
Day 5 Jangothang to Lingshi
This day we climb a ridge from where you can get a fantastic view of Mt. Jomolhari, Jichu Drake and Tshering Dang after following a stream for a while. Before climbing to Ngye La Pass(4700m) we pass through a valley of an almost flat path then descend to Lingshi, our campsite today, taking pleasure of panoramic view of Lingshi Dzong.
Day 6 Lingshi to Shodu
Next day leaving Laya Gasa route we climb up towards a small white Chhorten and then turn south to the deep Mo Chhu valley. Crossing the Mo Chhu river we will head to steep path to Yeli La Pass (4820m) where we can see fantastic views of different mountains. To reach our campsite at Shodu we descend from the Yeli La Pass and overnight there.
Day 7 Shodu to Barshong
We start our day following Thimpu river, descending through colorful rhododendron forest and beautiful waterfalls. We pass through narrow valley, reach the slop and ascend to the ruins of Barshong Dzong for camping.
Day 8 Barshong to Dolam Kencho
Today we descend down to Thimpu Chhu river valley through dense forest of rhododendron and other alpine forest. Then we cross steep cliff to Dolam Kencho, a pasture land where you will get chance to camp in beautiful lush meadow.
Day 9 Dolam Kencho to Dodena
On the last day of trek we walk towards south through forested areas winding up and down and through a small pass until we reach Dodena. In Dodena, you will exit the Jigme Dorji National Park and head to impressive cantilever bridge. There your vehicle awaits you to take you to your hotel in Thimpu.
Day 10 Paro to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we drive to Paro Int’l Airport for the flights of Kathmandu by Druk Air.
